Have a player in mind, or need a shortlist?

A specific player

Share the name, brand and intended use. The first step is a feasibility review covering timing, product category, markets, rights and budget.

How do you choose a soccer player for your brand?

Define the audience and the player’s role before comparing names. For each criterion, separate must-haves, preferences and points still to verify.

CriterionYour decisionWhat to review
Audience to reachIdentify the customers, countries and languages your campaign targets. For a player post, request available audience data for the relevant account, with its source and reporting period. Distinguish the player’s country from the audience’s location.
Role in the creativeDelivering a message on camera, posting on their account or speaking on stage: specify the essential role.Review comparable public examples and distinguish organic from sponsored content. Does the style and format suit your brand’s message?
Decisive constraintsSeparate a fixed date, speaking language and maximum budget from preferred profile attributes.List what the player’s team must confirm: schedule, product category and requested scope. A shortlist confirms neither availability nor terms.

When comparing social performance, use the same platform, comparable periods and the distribution context. Follower totals, views and sales answer different questions.

As a methodological example, TikTok One separates creator details, audience and performance, then recommends reviewing organic and sponsored content. TikTok guide, June 2026 ↗

Three ways to work with a soccer player

01Advertising & social content

Separate a shoot appearance, posts on the athlete’s channels and usage by the brand. Include campaign edits, paid amplification and distribution in the scope from the start.

02Brand ambassador partnerships

Define the term, content commitments, appearances and relevant product categories. Audience and message fit, along with existing commitments, matter alongside recognition.

03Events & speaking

Specify the venue, date, audience, stage format, guest interaction and recording plans. An appearance, a speaking engagement and a campaign using the event footage are distinct scopes.

A shoot, a player post or brand distribution?

These requests can be combined. Define each piece of content, the account that will publish it and its intended uses.

For example, TikTok allows Spark Ads using an authorized creator post, displayed under that creator’s identity. Specify the account shown separately from the team buying media. TikTok explanation, updated April 2026 ↗

Plan an advertising shoot with a soccer player

Before requesting a quote, connect each asset to its intended use and prioritize the essential shots. A deliverable list does not confirm the time available with the player.

  • For each video or photo: message, player role, duration or framing, languages, quantity and delivery date. Separate shots to capture from edits made in post-production.
  • For the schedule: launch date, required approvals and the shoot window to confirm. Identify what remains possible if a shot or date becomes unavailable.
  • For responsibilities: who supplies the script, products and references; who produces, edits and consolidates feedback. Identify the brand and player-team approvals to arrange.

TSE describes a Douglas Costa / Under Armour campaign planned for several uses from one shoot. Stink Studios describes an adidas production adapted to limited player access. These are their producers’ examples, not Trendex projects or promised schedules. TSE ↗ · Stink Studios ↗

Plan the advertising disclosure before distribution

If the player posts or endorses a product in exchange for payment or another benefit, include disclosure of the commercial relationship in the approval plan. The wording, placement and language depend on the market and format.

  • For a US audience, the FTC says a material connection with the brand should be obvious and hard to miss, placed with the endorsement and written in the same language.
  • For an audience in France, ARPP guidance calls for an immediate, explicit and readable disclosure from the start, without requiring a click on “more”, using clear French wording.
  • In the brief, identify who posts, the markets and languages, proposed disclosure wording and placement, and the approval owners for the brand and player.

US soccer campaigns. Clearly defined markets.

For a US campaign, define the intended audience, content language, states or national distribution, and paid-media use. For France, French-speaking Canada, French-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Belgium, a shared French creative concept can be considered with each distribution market identified in the brief.

  • United States: identify national or state-level distribution, audience languages and the cities involved in any event.
  • French-speaking markets: treat France, French-speaking Canada, French-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Belgium as separate distribution markets, even when they share a creative concept.

Working on behalf of a client?

Identify your agency’s role, expected deliverables and client approval process. We can discuss the point of contact, confidentiality and responsibility for casting, production and media buying at the first conversation. A preliminary brief does not need to disclose confidential client information.

Fictional example: you keep the creative work

An agency is considering a shoot and two posts for a soccer campaign in France and French-speaking Canada. It keeps the concept, studio and client relationship.

Help requested from Trendex: define the player selection, take the brief to the player’s team and negotiate deliverables and rights.

Still to confirm: budget and final selection with the client; availability, usage and terms with the player. No player has been approached in this example.

Under “Objective, audience and intended deliverables”, distinguish the work you retain, the work you delegate and the decisions still needed.

What to define before requesting a proposal

  • Brand, product category and business objective.
  • Preferred player, or selection criteria and acceptable alternatives.
  • Formats, deliverables, production dates and content languages.
  • Territories, channels, usage term and any category exclusivity.
  • Budget and currency, separating talent, production, travel and paid media.
  • Any proposed AI-generated use, explicitly subject to rights-holder approval.

A shirt, logo, trophy or match clip?

Identify the elements you want to show alongside the player. Separate new production from existing material.

  • Identify the requested shirt, logo, trophy, photo or video with a description or public reference.
  • For a clip, include the match, date, relevant passage and duration where possible. Name the known source or supplier and describe any intended edits.
  • Distinguish available documentation, its stated scope and points still to review. A requested element does not mean its use is confirmed.

Under “Channels, usage term, exclusivity, AI use”

Element: [description or reference]. Source: [known or to identify]. Passage and duration if video: [specify]. Intended use and edits: [specify]. Available documentation and stated scope: [complete], or points to review.

As a specific example, the FIFA Archives form asks for the footage, duration, uses, territories, languages and period, plus whether the programme is sponsored or branded. It concerns its archives, not all soccer footage. WIPO discusses club trademarks and athletes’ personal attributes separately. FIFA Archives project enquiry form ↗ · WIPO — sport and branding ↗

What does a soccer player endorsement cost?

The ranges on athlete profiles are planning ballparks. A social post, an appearance and an annual partnership have different scopes. A proposal sets out the currency, inclusions and terms; a budget estimate does not reserve an athlete.

Understand the budget components

Trendex supports the brand or agency’s project. Named athletes are options to assess; availability, terms and rights are confirmed for each engagement. Trendex does not claim official or exclusive representation.

Questions before launching an ad campaign with a soccer player

How do you hire a soccer player for an advertising campaign?

Start with the product, audience, markets, player role, launch date and budget. Trendex can assess a named player or build a shortlist, then take the defined scope to the athlete’s team. Availability, rights and terms are confirmed for each project.

What should the proposal include?

It should separate the player’s services, content to create, any player posts, channels, territories, usage term, exclusivity and approvals. Ask what is included or separate: talent fee, production, travel and media spend.

Who produces and approves the content?

Your brand or agency can retain the creative and production work, or ask Trendex to include them in the scope. Before the shoot, identify who supplies scripts and products, who produces and edits, and who consolidates feedback for the brand and the player’s team.

How long does it take to launch?

Timing depends on player availability, the number of assets, production, approvals and requested rights. State the launch date, latest workable shoot date and fallback options. A reliable schedule can be confirmed after feasibility review and agreement by the parties.
